Dr. Carol Atkinson LMFT (#MT 2868)

Are you committed to improving your relationship with your spouse? Is your relationship characterized by marital discord? Are there times  when you and your spouse seldom remember the vows you made to each other? If your response is ‘yes’ to any of the questions, then you could benefit from the professional help of a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). In addition to being licensed in the state of Florida, Dr. Atkinson is a Certified Prepare/Enrich Facilitator and Trainer - an empirically based assessment and intervention tool for premarital couples, and married couples seeking to strengthen their union. Regardless of the challenging dynamics in your relationship, Dr. Atkinson's strength based approach will help you to navigate the roads (with increased awareness) that led to the discord, and facilitate your return to a place of equilibrium and harmony.

Social, Emotional and/or Behavioral Issues with your child/children?

Dr. Atkinson is certified by the American Institute of Health Care Professionals as an Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) Consultant. A comprehensive assessment of your child's needs will confirm or rule out a diagnosis of ADHD, and identify social, emotional and/or behavioral problems related to, or meeting diagnostic criteria for  other identifiable, childhood disorders. If your child's behaviors, relationships, or school performance have regressed with no clear explanation, this is a good indication that something else is negatively impacting these domains of your child's life, and a good time to seek professional help. Dr. Atkinson's systemic approach and comprehensive assessment can help you to find the answers, and provide recommendations for parents and teachers to effect and maintain positive change.

Relational Issues

Therapeutic interventions by Dr. Atkinson will serve as a conversation conduit to help you transcend your current situation and world-view,  (the general perspective from which you interpret and see the world)  and develop a level of discernment to positively impact your relationships and entire family system.  Whether the challenges in your relationships are connected to a family member, a significant other, a co-worker, food, self-image, separation/divorce or feelings within yourself that are difficult to understand, Dr. Atkinson's approach, and experience with a wide range of relational issues and mental disorders including anxiety, depression, trauma and psychotic disorders, provides a forum and safe place for you to deconstruct the narratives that have shaped your life, explore related issues through therapeutic conversations, and thus create opportunities for change.
